Motor Yacht Club Luxembourg
Luxembourg’s oldest boating school. For more than 50 years the club has trained people for the inland licence, the coastal licence and the radio certificates. Its home is the marina at Schwebsange.
Courses offered
Three courses, each with classroom theory and three hours of practice on the Moselle.
Coastal licence (Permis côtier plus)
For coastal waters up to 6 nautical miles offshore, boats up to 20 m.
Twelve hours of theory over four evenings or one weekend, then three hours of practice on the Moselle.

SRC and CORVNI radio certificates
CORVNI for VHF radio on inland waterways, SRC for marine radio in sea area A1, that is within VHF range of a coast station.
Six evenings, one third theory and two thirds hands-on practice with current VHF sets with DSC.
€345 CORVNI only: €170
Included: a textbook in French or German, a knot booklet and a USB stick with all course material. The exam for the inland and coastal licence is taken at the Commissariat aux affaires maritimes, in French or German. Practice takes place on one of the club’s three training boats, with skippers approved by the Ministry of the Economy.

Radio certificates: the exam
The theory exam is taken at the ILR. The practical exam follows three to four weeks later; the ILR invites each candidate individually. Every candidate registers for the theory exam personally: the form, a recent passport photo and a copy of your ID go by post to the ILR, L-2922 Luxembourg.
SRC requires the CORVNI certificate or taking both exams in the same session, plus basic English.

Club life
The MYCL is more than a school. Through the year the club meets for the season opening on 1 May, the blessing of the boats, the open day at the Schengen Marina festival and the season closing in November.
