Schwebsange Marina

The only marina on the Luxembourg Moselle — and therefore, for anyone wanting a boat afloat in the Grand Duchy, practically the only address. 220 berths for boats up to twenty metres, its own fuel station, afloat winter storage.

New operator since 2025

The harbour belongs to the municipality of Schengen but has not been run by it since 2025 — it is now operated by Schengen Marina, a cooperative that also pursues a social mission: vocational integration and training under real conditions. Berths

Since the 1999 extension there are 220 berths, twelve of them for visitors. They lie on floating pontoons with finger piers; vessels over fifteen metres make fast to the outer mole that closes the basin towards the Moselle. The harbour entrance is considered straightforward, maximum draught is two metres.

All pontoons have power and fresh water — with one exception: pontoon A is reserved for small boats and jet-skis and has neither. If you depend on shore power, mention it when the berth is assigned.

Fuelling and waste

The fuel station in the harbour is the only one on the Luxembourg Moselle. It has been renewed and again meets the required safety standards. Open Monday to Saturday from 10 to 17, closed on Sundays — times can vary by season, so call ahead if in doubt.

Since 2023 black-water tanks can also be pumped out. This is only possible by appointment with the harbour office and not on Sundays. It is so far the only such facility on the Luxembourg Moselle — if you need it, plan for it rather than hope for it.

Why afloat winter storage works here

That is the structural peculiarity of Schwebsange and the reason the harbour is so valuable to Luxembourg owners: the installation rises with the Moselle floods. Boats can therefore winter afloat instead of being craned out and in every year. Winter storage must be registered before 1 October — except in an emergency.

Season and registration

The harbour office is staffed daily from 1 April to 31 October, from 10 to 13 and from 14 to 18. From 1 November to 1 April the harbour is closed to passing traffic.

Visitors report to the harbour master before making fast and bring identification and the boat papers. The berth is assigned — so you do not pick a free box yourself.

Launching on the Luxembourg Moselle

Schwebsange is one of the few places where boats can be launched on the Luxembourg Moselle. The other known options are at Bech-Kleinmacher, Ehnen and Grevenmacher. Use of the ramp goes through the harbour office.

Camping and catering

Beside the basin there is a campsite overlooking the boats, currently being rebuilt. At present some twenty to thirty pitches for motorhomes are available, with power and fresh water; grey water can be discharged. Caravans and tents only by prior arrangement at the same email address. Restaurants and terraces are close by.

Honestly about the location

Schwebsange is nicely placed — vineyards behind, three kilometres to Remich, a stone's throw to the tripoint at Schengen. Quiet it is not, however. The Route du Vin runs right past and carries traffic at night too, industry stands on the German bank opposite, and Luxembourg airport has its approach path here. Anyone looking for a berth rarely minds. Anyone wanting to sleep in a tent should know.

From Schwebsange

The harbour lies between two locks: upstream, Schengen after barely five kilometres and then the French border with Apach lock; downstream, at km 229.86, Stadtbredimus/Palzem lock. For a day trip to Remich, Stadtbredimus or up to Schengen, Schwebsange is a good starting point; to Trier it is two locks and a full day.
