Terms of use

Short and in plain language. There are few rules, but we enforce them.

1. What nautic.lu is

nautic.lu is a platform where users can post listings for boats, gear, moorings and rentals as well as wanted ads, complemented by information about the Moselle waterway. The operator is not party to any contract between users and acts neither as seller nor as broker.

2. Free — permanently

Use is free of charge. There is no listing fee, no commission, no paid promotion and no subscription. The operator never asks for payment details. Anyone demanding money in the name of nautic.lu is acting fraudulently.

Important: if anyone asks you for a payment in the name of nautic.lu, it is an attempted fraud. Please report it to us and pay nothing.

3. Posting listings

By posting, you warrant:

that you are entitled to sell or rent the item offered,
that your details are truthful, especially on condition, year, engine hours and defects,
that you use only your own images or ones for which you hold the necessary rights,
that commercial activity is marked as such and the statutory information duties are met.

Each item is posted only once. Multiple postings of the same item, including across categories, will be removed.

4. What is not allowed

listings for items that do not exist, or bait offers at unrealistic prices
stolen items or items of unclear origin
other people's images without permission, especially from other listings or manufacturer catalogues
advertising for services with no concrete link to the boating market, chain letters, pyramid schemes
insulting, discriminatory, youth-endangering or otherwise unlawful content
automated scraping of the site or transferring the listing stock to other portals
circumventing security measures, mass-sending enquiries, spam

5. Review and release

New listings are reviewed before publication. This is a plausibility check, not an inspection of the item offered. We reserve the right to reject, shorten or remove listings — there is no entitlement to publication.

6. Duration and deletion

Listings run for 950 days and can be renewed free of charge as often as you like. After that they are hidden. You can change, pause or delete your listing at any time through the edit link in the confirmation e-mail. We ask you to take sold or allocated offers offline promptly.

7. Rights in posted content

Your texts and images remain yours. By posting them you grant the operator the simple, geographically unrestricted right to display them within the portal, to resize them and to show them in overviews. This right ends when the listing is deleted.

8. Liability

The operator is fully liable in cases of intent and gross negligence, and for injury to life, body or health. In cases of simple negligence, liability arises only for breach of essential contractual duties and is limited to foreseeable damage typical of the contract.

Only the posters are liable for the accuracy of listing content. There is no entitlement to continuous availability of the site.

9. Waterway information

Details on locks, bridges, harbours, mooring places, water levels and regulations are non-binding guidance with no claim to accuracy or completeness. Only the official notices and the signs on site are binding. Responsibility for handling the vessel rests solely with the skipper.

10. Trading safely

A few points from practice — not rules, but good advice:

View the boat in person before any money changes hands. For larger sums a surveyor is worthwhile.
Ask for the papers: proof of ownership, registration, engine documents, invoices.
Be wary of advance payment, escrow offers, shipping services and payment by voucher code.
A price far below market value is not a bargain, it is a warning sign.
Draw up a written sales contract with description, condition and handover date.

11. Changes

We may change these terms as the service develops. The version published here applies. Last updated: 21 Sep 2026.

12. Applicable law

Luxembourg law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. Mandatory consumer protection provisions of the state in which the user has their habitual residence remain unaffected.
